RAL LFC Back, but degraded

The RAL LFC/SRMv1 migration was completed today at about 2.30pm. This means that all of the data which was put into RAL using ye olde version of the grid storage protocol, SRMv1, is now made available via SRMv2. This was the object of the exercise and we're very happy that has been done successfully.

However, we have discovered an issue with dq2-get, which means that at the moment dq2-get refuses to download the migrated datasets from RAL (they are accessible using other grid tools - it's just a particular problem with DDM and dq2-get).

We're working hard with the DDM team at CERN to find a solution to this as quickly as we can, but overall we decided it was better to come back in this degraded mode than to remain in downtime or rollback the whole migration (which could not have happened until tomorrow anyway). Most things do work.

Note that it's only access to these datasets at RAL which is affected. If you find that another site, a UK Tier-2 or anywhere else, that has the data you will be able to download it from there.

At the moment no one has tested access to this data at RAL with ganga. My feeling is that it will succeed (it doesn't use dq2-get), but it would probably be better to run your jobs elsewhere for now - at least it removes one source of uncertainty.
